A Star is Born!

Baby Max, my new little nephew (and he's little, less than 3kg), 7 days old. Drove to Orange for the day to meet him and cuddle him and attack him with the lens. He is just a delight, but didn't like being moved and did not like, under ANY circumstances, my lovely knitted scarf I was going to cocoon him in. Next time...

Nash - 2 weeks

My teeniest, tiniest newborn ever. He is 5lbs 9oz of pure cuteness. His hair is soooooo gorgeous and his little body just amazed me. My last was a 10lbs 4oz of pure beef... oh how I would have loved a wee one!

Nash was early though, his Mums voucher was a maternity and newborn session but he decided he wanted an '08 birthday instead!

Home again, home again...

Well, we made it home from Coffs. It was a great week, and pretty relaxing. Apart from the fact The Husband burst his ear drum diving into the resort pool so was confined to the Villa - alone - for the last 2 days. Sorry, but that sounds like BLISS to me! Roll on March, where I will be travelling to QLD again, alone (but flying, thank Gawd), for Matt and Sheenas wedding. Ohhhhhh 3 nights in a hotel - alone - BLISS! And seeing as I was let loose on my own with the kids, I had a momentary lapse of sanity and got a body part pierced within 20 minutes of being dared to by our travelling companions and best friends, Adam and Tanya. Think below my neck but above my belly button. Yeeeew!!! I have pictorial evidence but I'm not sure the content is suitable for this blog!!

And now, for some peeeeek-tures! I will start with some adorable girls I finally met after a nearly 5 year internet friendship. They were the sweetest girls and my 3 had a ball with them. My girls look related to them actually, they all have the same colouring. And I was lucky enough to meet with them on my birthday too!

Then we have Johnny.... ohhhhh Johnny. He was a new friend made in QLD and who could pass up the opportunity to photograph such a great face? (OK ok, so I forced him. I had finished a mini-session with a 2 year old and said 'right Johnny, get your shirt off. Your turn now. And he at first thought I was kidding, but then sheepishly took his shirt off and did everything I told him to do. Good boy!)

And then a random snap and a sneak peek of what is to come from Sea World. He dived in right in front of me, I have the most amazing shots...

Ahoyhoy!!

From Sunny, hot, sweaty me in QLD! I do not do hot very well - remind me of that when I organise a family holiday.... in QLD...... in SUMMER.

Having a lovely time, the kids are a bit over it as we have been busy every day pretty much. Who knew how much little ones really do like stability and routine?

There really is too much to write, I would be here for hours and seeing as I have NO photos to post people will just skim all my dribble, so I shall dictate in point form:

  • Hours it took us to drive to the Gold Coast - 15 (oh yeah, you feel my pain I know it).
  • Fish caught off private jetty in Surfers - 8. Edible ones - 0
  • Number of times I skinny dipped (or is that chunky dunked?) in private pool overlooking jetty and inlet - 2. Free as a bird...
  • Theme parks visited - 2, plus Australia Zoo today. SeaWorld was amazing, but very hot and very packed. Wet and Wild was AWESOME. I don't wuss out on any water slides, we went on an 'extreme' slide and the look of pure terror on my companions' face made the ten metre drop backwards on a blow-up tube worth it. That'd be the 9 year old and I, not The Husband. Who wussed out and refused to go on it.
  • Number of times we drove past Hooters at Surfers Paradise and the 3 and 2 year olds said "Mum, show me your Hooters!" encouraged by The Husband - 4.
  • Number of times we have had to make toilet stops for the girls - at least a thousand.
And we are only half way through the holiday so far. We are off to Coffs Harbour on Monday where our 2 bedroom villa awaits us, along with our best friends. Hopefully it will be a relaxing week of fishing, eating, exploring, beaching and relaxing. Fingers crossed!

PS Tomorrow marks the first day of the last year of my 20's. Happy Birthday to ME. I cannot believe *I* am nearly 30. Surely not! I still feel (and act, at times) like I am 21 some days... other days it's more like 50's...
